Goals & Specifications

At the outset of conception, the team gathered around the idea of creating the most action-packed combat game available on mobile platforms. Cyber Ninja should deliver chanbara-like sword combat, intense shootouts like a John Woo movie and fully destructible environments, commemorative of the legendary Matrix lobby scene. Simply put, the game had to be highly accessible, yet challenging, varied and stylish enough that any player could feel like a futuristic ninja.

Features

High-Octane Action

The Cyber Ninja is a futuristic combat unit undergoing testing through several assassination missions. As its operator, players must find, unlock and master an arsenal of melee and ranged weapons, upgrade their ninja with bleeding-edge boosters, interact with objects and complete level goals. Each simulation plays in a new location, such as a gangster shack or a subway staton, providing varied challenges and a range of mob and boss enemies to engage.

Complete Chaos Control

To make the game accessible to as many people as possible, a simple control scheme is crucial. That’s why the game can be played one-handed in a comfortable portrait orientation. By tapping and moving a virtual pad, the ninja moves in 3D space. All attacks are executed automatically, based on its proximity to enemies. This allows players to focus on one gameplay aspect, develop muscle memory easily and thus feel empowered early on.

Jack In, Load Up

To succeed in combat, a varied arsenal of melee and ranged weapons can be unlocked through game progress. Each one has its own pros and cons, ranging from a low-range, but silent throwing star up to a devastating, yet noisey rocket launcher. Once unlocked, weapons can also be upgraded, for instance with new ammo types or stronger bursts of projectiles. However, bigger does not equal better, as enemy forces are always superior in numbers.

Total Teardown

Any proper fight-scene focuses not only on actors, but also incorporates the environment surrounding them. Cyber Ninja is no exception, as each and every object within levels is a fully destructible, physical object. Enemy corpses fly off after a shotgun hit, furniture breaks down and crumbles, barrels explode and even walls collapse dynamically. When things go wild, you bet that the environment will show clear traces of the mayhem that has taken place.

Low Poly High Tech

To stay on top of all the turmoil, the game’s visual presentation must remain clearly readable in any situation. This is why Cyber Ninja comes in a highly stylized, low poly look. Sleek environments with distinct, high contrast key colors for the main character, enemies and interactive objects not only provide intuitive guidance, but also convey the abstract, futuristic sense of a virtual reality combat simulation.
